The Brooklyn Nets are declining their $6.25 million team option for forward Ziaire Williams. This move will help create cap space for Brooklyn this offseason. However, it doesn't rule out a return for Williams.

Last season, the Nets declined to tender Williams a qualifying offer, which would have made him a restricted free agent. Brooklyn then renounced Williams to create cap space. Later last summer, the Nets re-signed Williams. The team took a similar path with Day'Ron Sharpe last offseason.

Williams averaged 10.2 points for the Nets last season. In 56 appearances, the 6-foot-9 forward shot 42.5% from the field and 34.3% on three-pointers.
