Newcastle United have now entered talks to sign an "amazing" Barcelona player, who Crystal Palace have already submitted a bid for.

Having missed out on European qualification entirely after a subpar Premier League campaign, Newcastle could find it difficult to hold onto their most important players this summer, and Anthony Gordon has already completed a move to Barcelona.

Following Gordon's departure, the Magpies have already set out to sign a new left-winger, and talks have been opened regarding a deal for Osasuna star Victor Munoz, as well as FC Koln's Said El Mala.

Sandro Tonali's future at St. James' Park is also up in the air, with Manchester City recently holding talks to sign the Italian maestro, who has already been identified as Manchester United's top target.

In fact, Man United are now ready to submit an offer for Tonali, and should Eddie Howe's side decide to cash-in, they would need to bring in a new midfielder.

Having lost Gordon to Barcelona, it has now been revealed the PIF are planning to raid the La Liga champions for a midfielder.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states Newcastle have now held talks to sign Marc Casado, with the Spaniard attracting major interest from the Premier League.

A number of rival clubs are named as potential suitors for the maestro, including Crystal Palace, who are known to have already submitted a £22m bid.

However, AS Monaco are now leading the race for Casado's signature, with the French side now aiming to complete a deal for just over £20m.

The central midfielder is keen to join a club where consistent game time is guaranteed, having often been utilised as a substitute by Hansi Flick throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

That is despite Flick reserving very high praise for the two-cap Spain international during the 2024-25 season.

As pointed out by Flick, the 22-year-old is a La Masia graduate, which explains why he is so comfortable in possession of the ball, averaging 75.0 accurate passes per 90 in La Liga, which is far more than any Newcastle player managed in the Premier League.

That said, with Casado yet to establish himself as a consistent starter for Barcelona, it is unclear whether he would be a ready-made replacement for Tonali.
