The number 4-ranked light heavyweight in the UFC, Paulo Costa, has vowed to save the division from ‘boredom’ after UFC Abu Dhabi’s main event turned out to be a snoozefest.

In the main event, Magomed Ankalaev took on Bogdan Guskov, who had accepted the fight on short notice after Khalil Rountree Jr. had pulled out. The uneventful bout ended in the fifth round in favor of the Russian, as he won via TKO.

There was a point in the fight when the Abu Dhabi crowd began booing due to the lack of action. Although Ankalaev earned the win, eventually putting behind his loss to Alex Pereira as well, a majority of fighters and fans weren’t impressed with his performance.

One among them was Paulo Costa, the top-ranked light heavyweight. Taking to X, the Brazilian mocked the quality of the main event and vowed to put an end to the ‘boredom’ in the division. He wrote:

By the power of the Almighty, I shall save this weighclass from monotony and boredom.

Costa didn’t stop there, as he went on to call himself the ‘Russian killer’ against ‘tedious fights.’

One Russian killer against tedious fights.

It is worth noting that Costa is currently on a two-fight winning streak, with his last win coming against Azamat Murzakanov via TKO at UFC 327, earlier this year.

Magomed Ankalaev Had One Judge Score a 10-8 Round in His Favor At UFC Abu Dhabi

Magomed Ankalaev faced no threat at all from Bogdan Guskov in the UFC Abu Dhabi main event. In fact, before his TKO in the fifth round, he was cruising on the judges’ scorecards.

One judge even gave him a 10-8 for his dominance in Round 4. The penultimate stanza saw the Russian take Guskov down and bloody him up with punches in bunches. He even went to sink in a rear-naked choke a couple of times, but was unsuccessful.
