Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder Ryan O'Hearn now belongs to a club that includes Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. 

O'Hearn had a career-high 10 RBI in a 12-4 blowout win over the Atlanta Braves at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night. He went 4-for-5 at the plate and hit three home runs. 

He's the first player to log 10-plus RBI in a game since Ohtani did so against the Miami Marlins on Sept. 19, 2024, via StatMuse. He is also the first player in Pirates history to achieve this feat, one of the rarest in Major League Baseball.

How rare is a 10-plus RBI game? 

Stunningly, there are more perfect games (24) in MLB history than 10-plus RBI games (17). Not to mention, no player has ever had 10-plus RBI in a game twice. 

The short list features several Hall of Famers, including Reggie Jackson, Jim Bottomley and Tony Lazzeri. Ohtani will likely join them in Cooperstown when his career is over. O'Hearn, however, won't. 

O'Hearn, who turns 33 on July 26, is a solid player, but he's not of that caliber. In nine seasons with four teams (including the Pirates), the one-time All-Star has slashed .256/.324/.426. Note: That doesn't factor in Tuesday night's performance. 

His teammates made sure O'Hearn enjoyed the monumental occasion while it lasted. They dumped a bucket of cold water on him in a postgame interview with SportsNet Pittsburgh's Hannah Mears. He then thanked fans for a well-deserved standing ovation. 

"I've never had a curtain call ... thank you guys for that," he said. "That was awesome."
