ATLANTA — Clay Holmes wants his next major league start to be for the Mets.

As he rehabs a fractured right fibula, there is a good chance that start wouldn’t occur until after the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

As a proven starting pitcher, Holmes could be a commodity, but he told The Post that he isn’t allowing himself to think he’s about to parachute out of a difficult situation.

“You feel it in this room that there have been big expectations, and we haven’t met them,” Holmes said before the Mets’ 14-3 loss to the Braves on Saturday night. “I feel it. I want to do as much as I can to help the team. I don’t know what the future holds, but I don’t feel like I just want to find some way out. Things are hard right now, and I want to be part of the solution.”
