What happens when you combine the Ridley Kanzo Adventure with the Bosch CX drive unit? The new Ridley E-Kanzo Adventure gravel bike, of course. The addition of this new e-bike gives Ridley a complete lineup in the gravel discipline. Performance gravel is handled by the E-ASTR, all-road with the E-Grifn, and now adventure gravel with the E-Kanzo.

Ridley E-Kanzo: Same Bike, More Boost

Ridley took the Kanzo Adventure, arguably their most capable gravel bike, and pushed the limits even further. The addition of a Bosch CX motor on the Ridley E-Kanzo allows riders to go even further, crossing that backcountry boundary where they previously stopped.

The award-winning Kanzo Adventure set a precedent for adventure gravel riding. Much of that is thanks in part to the Kanzo’s versatility and adaptability. The bike featured things like adventure-first geometry, 54mm (2.1 inches) tire clearance, and multiple mounting points. While adding features like a motor and battery will require necessary tweaks, Ridley worked hard to keep the E-Kanzo Adventure close to its unassisted sibling.

Many of the same geometry features carry over to the Ridley E-Kanzo. The adventure e-bike has a relatively slack HTA (70.5°) paired with a moderate STA (74°). It shares the same 75mm bottom bracket drop, increasing stability and handling over rough terrain. The Ridley E-Kanzo also keeps the super-wide tire clearance that helps make the platform so capable.

But not everything carries over exactly from the Kanzo Adventure; namely, sizing options. While the Kanzo Adventure has an XS–XL size range, the Ridley E-Kanzo Adventure is absent of the bookend sizes, offering only a S–L size range. We also see slight geo tweaks, such as a slightly longer reach, toptube, and overall wheelbase.

Ridley also changed the axle-to-crown measurement on the E-Kanzo Adventure. The fork sees a 35mm increase, up from 400mm, providing room for a suspension fork without drastically affecting the geo.

These slight changes are in part to accommodate the loss of XS and XL sizes, as well as to make room for the most significant addition: a Bosch CX motor.

Bosch Performance CX Drive Unit

The Ridley E-Kanzo Adventure features the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit. The Bosch CX delivers 750W of peak power and 100Nm of torque, providing an impressive 400% pedal assistance. This is paired with an integrated 600Wh battery.

While the Ridley E-Kanzo delivers a considerable amount of power, it does so with smooth and gradual acceleration, providing a more natural feel. Advanced sensors in the Bosch system recognize the instant pedaling occurs, allowing for precise and accurate power distribution.

Together, the battery (3kg) and motor (2.8kg) add roughly 5.8kg (12.78lbs) to the overall weight.

Bosch’s control units are integrated into the E-Kanzo’s toptube and handlebars, providing easy control between the bike’s Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo modes. Further fine-tuning and adjusting is available through Bosch’s Flow app.

Ridley E-Kanzo Options and Details

Ridley offers the E-Kanzo Adventure in two different groupset builds: SRAM Apex XPLR and Shimano GRX800 Di2. Jumping from the SRAM to the Shimano Di2 groupset adds €700, or roughly $819.

Both builds feature Ridley’s Elite Series carbon frames and aluminum DT Swiss Hybrid G1800 wheels, wrapped in 29×2.1 Vittoria Mezcal III tires. More minor details of the builds include an FSA crankset and chainring, a Forza Stratos stem and seatpost, and a Selle Italia saddle.

For those looking to build a custom Ridley E-Kanzo, a bike builder option is available through their website.

Ridley prices the SRAM build at €6,799.00 ($7,956.79) on their website and the Shimano Di2 option at €7,499.00 ($8,776). Ridley sells exclusively through trusted dealers, so check their website to find a local dealer near you.
