Despite Chet Holmgren’s disappointing performance in Oklahoma City’s Western Conference Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Thunder general manager Sam Presti made it clear that the organization remains fully committed to the young star.
Holmgren saw his production decline significantly during the seven-game series, averaging 10.7 points after scoring 17.1 per game during the regular season.
His toughest outing came in Game 7, when he managed just four points and attempted only two shots. Over the final four games of the series, he also took just three shots from beyond the arc.
Even so, Presti emphasized Holmgren’s overall impact on the team’s success and pointed to the accomplishments he achieved throughout the season.
“He drives winning on so many different levels for us,” said Presti.
“He’s a first-time All-Star, second in Defensive Player of the Year, third-team All-NBA. We were sweeping our way to the Western Conference finals primarily because of his efforts in the Lakers series.”
