Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayElla Shields, daughter of former Angels pitcher Scot Shields, just turned her dad’s MLB legacy into viral comedy gold.
The Grand Valley State University junior pulled a TikTok prank on her retired baseball star father by pretending she was reading the stat line of a college pitcher her friend was interested in.
In reality, she was casually rattling off Scot’s career stats, including his ERA and WHIP, while acting like she had no idea what any of it meant. The video already has 8.8 million views.

When she revealed the numbers didn’t actually belong to a college player, Scot was briefly stunned before realizing he’d just unknowingly analyzed himself.
“Those are my stats?” he asked, after previously admitting they were “pretty good.”
The moment fits perfectly into the pair’s ongoing social media dynamic. Scot Shields, who spent his 10-year MLB career with the Angels, is no stranger to Ella’s TikTok feed.
The former setup man, a key piece of the Angels’ 2002 World Series championship team, has previously been featured in clips in which Ella jokes about his athleticism and another in which she shows off his World Series ring.

Ella, meanwhile, keeps her social media pages rooted in typical college fare — fashion, friends, vacations and a few glimpses into her time as a standout high school volleyball player.
The Grand Valley Lakers’ baseball program also adds a fitting backdrop after its recent 48-10 season, topping the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings in 2026.
