Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe WBC junior middleweight champion says activity, Australia’s home crowd and Errol Spence Jr.’s lengthy layoff favor Tim Tszyu on July 25
Sebastian Fundora believes Tim Tszyu will defeat Errol Spence Jr. on July 25, pointing to Tszyu’s recent activity and Spence’s extended absence from the ring. Fundora also expects Australia’s home crowd to give Tszyu another important advantage when the two meet in Sydney.
“I favor Tszyu. He’s been more active. And they’re fighting in Australia. That’s a big factor. That’s a huge factor. I don’t know if Spence has ever even been to Australia,” Fundora said to Fight Hub TV.
The WBC junior middleweight champion expects Spence’s inactivity to become noticeable once the fight begins.
“That layoff is going to show some. I understand losing and coming back to fight, like I did. I lost, I came back maybe a year later, but I was training still,” Fundora said. “This guy’s been out of the circle for what, maybe three years? That’s too much time, and you know he wasn’t training. So we’ll see. I don’t favor him.”
Spence has not fought since suffering a ninth-round stoppage loss to Terence Crawford in July 2023. That defeat ended his reign as unified welterweight champion and was followed by an extended period away from competition.
Tszyu has been considerably more active. He comes into the contest with a two-fight winning streak against Denis Nurja and Anthony Velazquez following a seventh-round stoppage loss to Fundora in 2025.
Fundora is familiar with Tszyu after sharing the ring with him and believes the location of the fight also favors the former WBO junior middleweight champion. Tszyu will have the backing of the Australian crowd, while Spence must return from a long layoff in unfamiliar surroundings.
The bout will take place at a 158-pound catchweight. Spence will be attempting to prove that he remains a top-level fighter at 36, while Tszyu can put himself back in position for another major junior middleweight fight with a victory.
