Shaquille O’Neal still remembers being confronted by Vince Carter’s mother after knocking the future Hall of Famer to the floor during a game in 1999.

Looking back on the moment, O’Neal said Carter’s mother made it clear she wasn’t happy.

“She said if I hurt her baby, she was gonna beat me up,” the former Los Angeles Lakers star recalled.

Although he laughed about the incident, O’Neal said he completely understood her reaction.

“She didn’t want me to hurt her baby. And I understood. I will never disrespect anybody’s mom,” he explained.

O’Neal also joked that Carter should have expected a physical response.

“But Vince knew better than to try to dunk on me. I always told anybody that dunked on me, I’m gonna have to lay them out!”
