Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayShawn Porter believes Tyson Fury still has the edge over Anthony Joshua because of the mental side of the fight.
Joshua is expected to move toward a long-awaited clash with Fury if he defeats Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fury returned to the ring last month with a decision victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov after more than a year out of action.
“I think that Tyson’s fast enough; he’s still a good-enough boxer. I think he beats Anthony Joshua.
“Anthony has never been the fundamentally sound boxer that Tyson Fury has been. [He’s] a really good straight-up-and-down-one-two fighter that can hit you, and hit you hard.
“But the thing we’ve seen from him, especially recently, is, if he’s not tapped in mentally, he kind of falls apart as the fight goes on.
“Should Anthony [enter the Fury fight] really tapped in and ready to go, then I think it’s a great 12-round war,” said Shawn Porter to Froch On Fighting YouTube channel.
Joshua has fought only once since his fifth-round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, defeating Jake Paul in six rounds last December. Fury is also coming off consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk before his comeback win over Makhmudov.
The Fury-Joshua fight has been discussed for years without reaching the ring. Both heavyweights are now in the final stages of their careers, and another loss for either fighter could hurt interest in the matchup, especially after several previous failed negotiations.
