The Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026 is set to bring Punjab’s cricketing talent into the spotlight as the state’s premier T20 competition gets underway on August 30. Organised by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), the tournament will run until September 13, with all 27 matches scheduled to be played at the iconic I.S. Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Six franchises will compete over 14 action-packed days, creating a platform where established Indian internationals and some of Punjab’s most exciting emerging cricketers can share the same stage.

Six franchises, two groups

The tournament has been divided into two groups, with three teams in each. Group A consists of Mohali Kings, Fazilka Falcons and Jalandhar Warriors, while Group B features Bathinda Royals, Amritsar Soormas and Ludhiana Lions.

The league stage will comprise 24 matches, followed by two semi-finals on September 12. The tournament will reach its climax with the final on September 13.

With the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage, every league fixture is expected to carry significant importance as franchises compete for a place in the final four.

Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma headline star-studded line-up

One of the biggest attractions of the tournament will be the presence of several prominent Indian players. Fazilka Falcons will have Indian batting star Shubman Gill as their marquee player. Gill’s presence gives the franchise considerable firepower at the top of the order, while auction picks such as Sanvir Singh and Naman Dhir add further depth to the squad.

Amritsar Soormas will be led by explosive all-rounder Abhishek Sharma. The franchise also boasts the services of talented leg-spinner Mayank Markande, giving the side an interesting balance between attacking batting and spin bowling.

For Ludhiana Lions, India’s left-arm pace spearhead Arshdeep Singh will be the central figure. His experience with the national team could prove invaluable in pressure situations, while Salil Arora is among the other players expected to contribute significantly.

Emerging talent adds more intrigue

Mohali Kings will be anchored by pace-bowling all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, with Harpreet Brar and Anmolpreet Singh adding experience and versatility to the side.

Meanwhile, Jalandhar Warriors have handed the captaincy to attacking wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh. Known for his aggressive approach, Prabhsimran will lead a lineup that also includes Anmol Malhotra.

Bathinda Royals will be led by tall fast bowler Gurnoor Brar, while highly regarded Under-19 star Uday Saharan adds another exciting dimension to the squad.
