Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwaySong Yadong is oozing with confidence ahead of his UFC Macau main event fight against Deiveson Figueiredo.
Yadong is set to headline the card on Saturday against the former flyweight champ in a pivotal bantamweight scrap. Heading into the fight, Yadong is a -600 favorite, and he believes that’s because he’s better everywhere and will be able to finish the Brazilian to send a statement to the entire division.
“Figueiredo is a good man,” Yadong said to CBS Sports. “Deveison used to train [with] our team [and] Urijah knows him and knows his skills. Everything is under control and my coach believes in me that even with striking and grappling, I can totally [defeat] this guy. I am so confident.
“I believe in my power. I think I’m stronger and I’m faster. I’m better than (Figueiredo) everywhere so I could win either way: knock him out or win by submission. But Figueiredo is a very tough guy and it’s not easy to knock him out. He’s very sneaky. He knows I’m going to try to hurt him and I think he’s going to try to take me down but my takedown defense is good.”
Song Yadong believes he’s close to a title shot
If Yadong can finish Figueiredo at UFC Macau, it would get him back into the win column after a loss to Sean O’Malley last time out.
Although Yadong feels like he won that fight, the 28-year-old knows all he can do is beat Figueiredo and prove he’s one of the best bantamweights in the world.
“I am very close to these guys,” Yadong said. “I lost because of just small points. I could have won the fight, each one, even the Petr Yan [fight]. I could have [defeated] him. But I learned a lot of experience from those fights. I believe I will get back soon and am only one or two fights away from a title shot.”
Yadong enters his UFC Macau main event with a record of 22-9-1 and one NC.
