Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are expected to engage on contract extension talks when he becomes eligible on Saturday, August 29, sources tell ESPN.

Curry can sign for up to two years and $136.7 million with the Warriors. The contract would take him through his age-40 season. Curry is on a $62.6 million expiring contract after previously signing his one-year extension in 2024.

The Warriors could create significant cap space for the 2027 offseason should Curry not sign an extension as Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green are also on expiring contracts, while Kristaps Porzingis has only $3 million of his $20 million for the 2027-28 season guaranteed.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. has expressed confidence that the Warriors will sign Curry to an extension.

Curry appeared in 43 games last season, averaging 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists as the Warriors won their initial play-in game over the Los Angeles Clippers before they were eliminated from a potential playoff berth by the Phoenix Suns.
