Steve Claggett is no longer contractually tied to Eye of the Tiger with the Quebec-based promotion as well as the pugilist in question offering up statements on this matter. The EOTTM and Claggett partnership covered over half a decade with close to twenty prizefights within that timeline. When EOTTM President Camille Estephan touched on this recent situation, Estephan commented,

“Boxing is a demanding sport, in which you sometimes have to make difficult decisions at the right time. We have always believed in prioritizing the long-term career and future of our athletes, and it is in that spirit that we have chosen not to renew our agreement with Steve. We are proud of the journey we shared, grateful for all the moments he gave us, and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

The Calgary combatant boasts a 40-9-2 record with 28 KOs and the Albertan has secured the admiration of the Quebec fans of the sweet science. Claggett has thrown down in standout contests with the likes of Junior Ulysse, David Theroux, Mathieu Germain to name but a few off the bat.

“Dragon” also took part in a main event that emanated from Casino de Montréal for an EOTTM gala and memorably beat top ten contender globally, Miguel Madueno. Claggett entered rarefied air when he landed more than 512 punches over 10 rounds, which has only been done four times since the onset of Compubox.

Concurrently holding WBO International gold and the NABF super-lightweight title, he then earned his world title bid in June 2024. Claggett fought a game 12 rounds against one of the most recognizable names in the boxing world today, defending champion Teofimo Lopez. “I just want to say that I am very grateful for my time with Eye of the Tiger, we fought many battles together and made it to the world title as a team. These were some of the best years of my professional boxing life, it has been amazing. I am wishing the whole team much success in the future.”

Steve Claggett’s last fight took place on May 30th, with the Canadian combatant being stopped in the third round, against unbeaten Adam Azim.
