Steve Kerr believes the Golden State Warriors improved their supporting cast this offseason despite missing out on several high-profile targets.

Golden State was unable to land some of the biggest names available, including LeBron James, but Kerr is encouraged by the depth assembled around the team’s established core.

“Look, we did the best we could to put together the roster,” Kerr said. “I think Yaxel [Lendeborg] is going to help quite a bit.”

The Warriors selected Lendeborg with the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft after he helped Michigan capture the national championship. He then continued his strong play by leading Golden State to a Summer League title and earning tournament MVP honors.

“He’s a really good player; he’s older, he’s mature,” Kerr said. “Watching him work out with our guys, he’s going to help us.”

Kerr also pointed to Gui Santos, Brandin Podziemski, Georges Niang and Brandon Williams as players who may not represent major headline-grabbing additions but could provide valuable depth throughout the season.

Golden State is also expecting reinforcements from within the roster.

Jimmy Butler III is reportedly targeting a return sometime between January and February after suffering a torn ACL, while Moses Moody could resume basketball activities later this month and potentially return early in the season.

Although the Warriors did not land a superstar this offseason, Kerr believes the team has enough depth with its new additions and returning players.
