West Brom have given their supporters genuine reason to believe that this Championship season could be very different from the last.

James Morrison's side have taken 14 points from seven league games, and Albion sit level on points with West Ham and Swansea.

Four wins, two draws and one defeat represent an assured opening for a club that was fighting to stay up only months ago.

Albion began by winning 2-1 at Norwich before beating relegated Burnley 3-1 at The Hawthorns. A 3-1 setback at Middlesbrough remains their only league loss, and the response has been impressive.

Draws against Charlton and QPR have been mixed with clean-sheet victories over Watford and Derby. The latter was particularly encouraging, as West Brom protected an early lead after a first half dismissal reduced them to 10 men.

There is still plenty to improve on.

Saturday's 1-1 draw with QPR was a missed chance to hold first place, while Morrison will want more cutting edge when opponents defend deep. Even so, Albion look organised, competitive and increasingly confident.

The numbers support that optimism, with 10 goals scored, and only seven conceded, and that strong platform also gives the club a clear reason to be ambitious in January.

A serious promotion push can turn quickly in the Championship, and an extra player with imagination in the final third may prove valuable during the winter grind.

That marks a shift from the spring, when Morrison was asked to steer Albion away from relegation and did enough to earn the job permanently.

Now his team head towards Sunday's derby at Wolves with promotion form, a clear identity and growing belief around The Hawthorns, with the winter window springing up an exciting potential target.

West Brom tussle for Dimitiris Kaloskamis with 'talks underway'

TEAMtalk reports that West Brom are interested in AEK Athens youngster Dimitris Kaloskamis, who has asked for a January move, with talks already 'underway' over a mid-season exit.

The 21-year-old can work as a No.10 or attack from either side, and that range would give Morrison another creative option and help Albion switch shape during key games.

AEK signed him from Atromitos in the summer of 2025 on a deal lasting until 2030.

His senior action this term has been limited to two cup appearances, however, and the Greek youth international wants more football.

Southampton are also watching the situation, while La Liga side Levante appear further advanced, with the Spanish club said to have opened negotiations over a transfer.

Sources behind the report believe a deal worth around £3 million may persuade AEK to sell, making Kaloskamis an affordable development signing with first team potential.

They will have to decide whether the youngster can help a promotion chase now, rather than simply become an asset further down the line.

Kaloskamis would bring promise, positional freedom and a point to prove. If Albion are still near the summit when the window opens, The Hawthorns may look like the right stage for his next step.
