Chicago Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong has had one of the most complete individual seasons in baseball history, so it was appropriate that the day he finally sealed the first 40-home run/40-stolen base season in Cubs history is also the day they punched their ticket to the postseason. 

PCA should be the runaway MVP in the National League this season, hitting 45 home runs, driving in 107 and leading the N.L. with a .959 OPS while playing in each of their first 159 games. But despite his individual heroics this season, the Cubs could finish anywhere from the top to final Wild Card spot heading into the final weekend of the regular season. 

If they are able to leapfrog the San Diego Padres during their weather-altered final series with the Boston Red Sox, they’ll get to host the Wild Card series and avoid the Los Angeles Dodgers until the NLCS.
