There had been four nine-inning perfect games in the 115-year history of the International League. That changed on Monday.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Thomas Pannone became the fifth pitcher in IL history, and the third player for the Nashville Sounds, to fire a perfect game in a 3-0 victory over the Durham Bulls. He fired 94 pitches, striking out eight batters.

Pannone struggled with his command early, getting to a three-ball count on two of the first four hitters and fell behind with a 3-0 count to Bulls infielder Carson Williams. He was able to get Williams to fly out to center and did not reach a three-ball count until he fell behind 3-0 to outfielder Homer Bush before getting Bush to ground out to short to end the game.

Pannone had been a part of the Blue Jays pitching staff in 2018 and 2019, posting a 5.43 ERA and a 1.345 WHiP over his 116 innings as he shuffled between the rotation and bullpen, striking out 98 batters with 46 walks. However, he made just two major league appearances since the end of the 2019 season as he bounced between five different organizations and the Korean Baseball Organization while missing the 2025 season due to a torn flexor tendon in his left forearm. 

He made a spot start for the Brewers earlier in 2026, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks over three innings, striking out two batters. His previous major league appearance also came with the Brewers in 2023 when he allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over 2.2 innings, striking out four batters.

The 32-year-old Pannone had spent the rest of the season in Triple-A, entering Monday with a 4.67 ERA and a 1.350 WHiP over his 86.2 innings, striking out  74 batters with 28 walks. And on Monday, he added a perfect game to that resume.
