While Miguel Vargas, Davis Martin, Colson Montgomery and Grant Taylor have all been key contributors to the Chicago White Sox's recent success, Tristan Peters' solid performance has been overlooked.

He's undoubtedly flied under the radar, but the White Sox acquiring him has been one of their top moves, as he has transformed into a valuable contributor.

He is one of two players, including Shohei Ohtani, who have hit over 320 with 15+ extra base hits since May 1.

Tristan Peters is one of several high-reward, low-risk acquisitions

The White Sox acquired the center fielder from the Tampa Bay Rays in the offseason, and he's showcased his high-upside potential.

The 26-year-old is having a breakout rookie campaign, boasting a .307 batting average, with two home runs, 18 RBI, and an .813 OPS. His batting average also ranks seventh among MLB rookies, and he leads all rookies with 15 doubles.

His approach avoids hitting for power as he instead relies on getting on base with consistent contact. He is tied for fourth in MLB with four sacrifice bunts. Peters also possesses elite speed with solid baserunning (28.7 feet per second sprint speed, 88th percentile).

The rookie has also shown stellar defense, ranking in the 98th percentile with an Outs Above Average (OAA) of 7 and a field running value of 6, ranking in the 95th percentile.

The White Sox have a tangible track record of acquiring high-reward, low-risk players such as Randal Grichuk, Vargas, Anthony Kay, Murakami and, of course, Peters.

They have steered clear of pursuing risky long-term deals, as Peters, Grichuk, and Vargas are all signed to a one-year deal, and Kay and Murakami are signed to two-year pacts.
