Shubman Gill turned 27 on Tuesday, September 8, and marked the occasion with a special midnight celebration alongside his family. A video shared by one of Gill’s fan clubs on Instagram showed the India Test and ODI captain cutting a large birthday cake with his parents and sister, Shahneel Gill by his side.

Gill’s birthday celebration came amid his impressive run in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026. The Fazilka Falcons skipper has made a strong start to the tournament, scoring 40 off 21 balls against Ludhiana Lions before following it up with a 67 off 35 balls against Amritsar Soormas.

Gill was seen enjoying the special occasion with his family as they gathered for the midnight celebration. The right-hander cut his birthday cake alongside his parents and sister Shahneel, with the heartwarming moment quickly catching the attention of his fans.

The celebration came just hours after Gill had featured in a high-scoring Sher-E-Punjab T20 League contest against Amritsar Soormas. He top-scored for Fazilka with 67 runs from 35 deliveries, continuing his impressive form in the tournament.

Gill shines before Abhishek Sharma wins the battle

Gill’s 67 included an entertaining mini-battle with Abhishek Sharma. The Fazilka captain attacked the left-arm spinner in the 10th over, smashing him for two sixes and a four before Abhishek had the final say with the last ball of the over. Gill attempted another big shot off a short delivery but failed to clear the boundary and was caught by Naman Dhir in the deep.

Fazilka eventually posted 191/6, with Sanvir Singh and Pranshu Pratap also scoring 40 each. However, Amritsar chased down the target in 19.3 overs to win by four wickets. Abhishek was the star of the chase, smashing 49 off just 15 balls and taking two wickets to claim the Player of the Match award.
