Over the last couple of weeks, Aston Villa supporters have been coming to terms with the record departure of attacking superstar Morgan Rogers.

£117m has made the 23-year-old the most expensive Englishman of all-time, even surpassing the deal which saw Jack Grealish join Manchester City back in 2021.

Unai Emery’s men could not afford to turn down such mega-money given the financial constraints around Villa Park, but there’s no denying the club have lost one of their most valuable options.

His tally of 16 combined goals and assists in the Premier League was only bettered by Ollie Watkins, but the club may need to make added reinforcements to help replace his quality.

In an attempt to soften the blow of Rogers’ departure, Villa have secured the signature of winger Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The deal includes a mandatory option to buy depending on the number of games played by the Argentine at Villa Park - which could see £42m being spent on the 22-year-old.

There’s no denying he’s previously showcased quality in England, as seen by his tally of 11 goals and 10 assists for Manchester United during the 2024/25 campaign.

However, his season at Chelsea last time highlighted his flaws, as he often went missing in big games and was unable to deliver on a consistent basis at Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho only scored once in the Premier League, and only managed to complete 34% of his attempted dribbles - subsequently ranking him in the bottom 25% of forwards in the division.

The youngster also completed just 13% of the crosses he attempted in England’s top-flight, which also placed him below 80% of players in his position throughout 2025/26.

His attitude has often been called into question, with former Red Devils star Nicky Butt labelling him a “disgrace” and that he “got above his station too quick” after emerging on the scene as a teenager.

Emery personally wanted a deal for Garnacho this summer and the Spaniard may have his work cut out in trying to get the best out of the Argentine in the West Midlands.

His experience in the Premier League will certainly be handy, but the club clearly don’t see him as the perfect replacement for Rogers - especially if their recent transfer efforts are anything to go by.

The Villa hierarchy have stepped up their efforts to land added attacking reinforcements this window, subsequently leading to reports of a move for Palmeiras winger Allan.

It’s been reported by ESPN that Emery’s side recently had an opening offer rejected for the Brazilian winger, with his current employers seeing him as a crucial player.

However, they do confirm that they will reluctantly offload the 22-year-old should Villa return with an offer in the region of €45m (£38m) before the end of the summer window.

Allan may be a player who very few supporters are familiar with, but he’s a forward who has gained huge attention in his homeland after his displays in recent times.

The winger was even credited with producing "one of the best Libertadores performances of all time” last season as Palmeiras fell at the final hurdle against Flamengo in the final.

His underlying stats from the current campaign in Brazil’s top-flight showcase his talent within attacking areas - many of which could see him replace the recently departed Englishman.

The youngster has completed an impressive tally of 2.7 successful dribbles per 90 this year, subsequently ranking him in the top 8% of all forwards in South America.

Such a figure is also two times higher than that of £117m man Rogers, which showcases Allan’s relentless ability to glide past the opposition with his electric pace.

The Brazilian has also been fouled a staggering 2.3 times per 90 this campaign, which showcases the opposition often have to prevent him from getting into his full stride.

Despite his tender age, Allan has managed to put the end product onto his mazy runs, subsequently creating 2.1 chances per 90 - allowing him to register six goal contributions in just 16 starts.

There’s no denying there’s a huge step up between Serie A and the Premier League, but countless players have made the jump and been successful in years gone by.

Allan could be the latest to add himself to such a list upon any move to Villa Park, which could see him become the player to replace Rogers on the left side of Emery’s attack.

Garnacho will no doubt be hoping that he can be the manager’s number one option, but he could well have his work cut out if the hierarchy agree a move for the exciting Brazilian prodigy.
