Zalgiris Kaunas continued one of the EuroLeague’s busiest offseasons on Tuesday by signing veteran guard Sterling Brown to a contract through the 2027-28 season. The agreement is structured as a 1+1 deal and brings the former NBA wing to Lithuania after two productive seasons with Partizan Belgrade.

Brown, 31, arrives with three years of EuroLeague experience and is expected to fill a major role on a Zalgiris roster that has undergone significant changes following last season’s playoff run.

The American wing gives Zalgiris an experienced perimeter scorer after posting 13.7 points per game while shooting 39.2% from three-point range during the 2025-26 EuroLeague season with Partizan.

Before establishing himself in Europe, Brown spent six seasons in the NBA. He appeared in 292 regular-season games with the Milwaukee Bucks, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 5.3 points per game. His best NBA season came with Houston in 2020-21, when he averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds across 51 appearances before continuing his career overseas with ALBA Berlin and later Partizan.

Brown joins a Zalgiris squad that finished fifth in the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season with a 23-15 record before falling 3-1 to Fenerbahce in the playoff quarterfinals. The club was led offensively by Sylvain Francisco, who averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 assists, while Moses Wright contributed 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds, and Azuolas Tubelis added 12.1 points.

However, both Francisco and Wright are among several notable departures this summer. Zalgiris has also parted ways with Laurynas Birutis, Ignas Brazdeikis, Kajus Mikalauskas, Mantas Rubstavicius and loaned new signing Maxwell Lewis.

The front office has responded aggressively in the transfer market. Brown becomes the latest addition following the signings of Carsen Edwards, Saben Lee, Marius Grigonis and Marek Blazevic. Longtime NBA center Jonas Valanciunas is reportedly on his way to Kaunas too.
