Ariel Hukporti has suffered a torn Achilles in Monday's preseason game between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks. An MRI confirmed the injury on Tuesday and he will undergo surgery immediately.

Hukporti signed a one-year, $3.4 million contract with the Sixers over the offseason.

The Sixers are already without Adem Bona and Tacko Fall due to injuries.

Philadelphia will likely apply for a $1.7 million Disabled Player Exception. But the Sixers cannot currently sign a player as they're $1.8 million below the first apron.
