Arsenal continue to work on several transfer plans as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the defence of the Premier League title.

The Gunners are expected to remain one of the busiest clubs in the market over the coming weeks.

One player who continues to feature prominently in Arsenal's plans is Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.

Rogers, who bagged 14 goals and 12 assists, is capable of operating across the front line and in attacking midfield, giving Arteta another versatile option in the final third.

Villa are understood to be reluctant to part with one of their standout performers. However, Arsenal have continued monitoring the situation as they assess whether a deal can become possible later in the window.

The Gunners are also looking towards the future as they continue investing in young talent.

Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga remains one of the brightest prospects on Arsenal's radar.

The 16-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign after becoming one of the youngest players ever to feature in the Premier League before establishing himself in Leicester's first-team squad.

Arsenal have already seen an opening proposal rejected as negotiations continue between the two clubs.

Leicester are believed to value the winger higher than Arsenal's initial £5m offer, and discussions remain ongoing as Arsenal attempt to secure one of English football's most exciting teenage talents.

While Arsenal continue exploring attacking additions, midfield is also a priority this summer.

Martin Zubimendi's arrival last summer strengthened Arteta's options, but the club are still assessing further reinforcements in that area.

Several midfielders have been discussed internally as Arsenal weigh up different routes in the market.

That process has now led the club towards two of Newcastle's biggest stars.

Arsenal hold talks over signing Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali

According to BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel, Arsenal have held exploratory talks over both Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.

His report claims that initial discussions have taken place with their agents as Arsenal debate a number of midfield options before deciding which deal to pursue.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is known to adopt a kind of scattergun approach to the market, where he'll contact and explore the possibility of signing key targets before deciding the one he'll prioritise.

That was evident last summer when Arsenal were weighing up moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko at one point, before eventually landing the Swede.

How much Tonali and Guimaraes will cost this summer

Tonali, who is valued at around £100 million and is currently on a reported £150,000 per week at Newcastle, is also a major target for Tottenham.

The overall cost of completing a deal, including transfer fee, wages and agent payments, will have to be carefully considered by the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Guimaraes, who is on around £120,000 per week under his current contract, could cost around £86 million according to some reports, despite having just two years left on his deal.

The midfielder enjoyed another productive season and remains one of the Premier League's leading central midfielders.

Tonali and Bruno's combined wages come in at around £270,000-per-week, while their transfer fees combined approach the £200m mark, making both pretty expensive deals to do.

Ayyoub Bouaddi, who has excelled in Ligue 1 and starred at the World Cup with Morocco, is one of the other midfielders being looked at by Berta.

BBC Sport adds that while Arsenal have held preliminary conversations regarding the Brazilian's situation, they have yet to make a formal approach to Newcastle.
