Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade.

After voluntarily writing for Fresh Press for two years, helping to build and establish the Read brand, Daniel started a part-time job with Fresh Press that later turned into a full-time writing and editing role, writing for club-specific pages such as Read Norwich, Read Celtic, Read Liverpool, and Read Arsenal.

Daniel spent just shy of a year writing and editing for Liverpool-based website, Anfield Watch, which included conducting and/or transcribing interviews with Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, former Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Since the summer of 2021, Daniel has worked for Snack Media (now Valnet) and has been a contributor to Football FanCast, on a freelance and full-time basis, as a writer and editor.

Daniel is a Norwich City fan and season ticket holder. He has been heard on BBC Norfolk and helped DAZN with research for their commentary due to his knowledge of the club, along with being featured in several local papers across the country, including the Coventry Telegraph and the Liverpool Echo, for Norwich-related content.

Daniel's knowledge extends to Scottish football, having covered Celtic and Rangers for several years. He particularly enjoys producing player analysis and producing transfer content.

Glasgow Rangers manager Derek McInnes was officially unveiled earlier this week after he completed a move from Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts earlier in the month.

Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie have both already been added to the squad since the end of last season, both arriving as Rangers fans and proven Scottish talents.

They may not be the only two Scottish players signed by the Light Blues now that they have a Scottish manager who knows the league and the country inside and out.

The former Jam Tarts head coach is reportedly the driving force behind the club's pursuit of a deal for Bologna central midfielder Lewis Ferguson, who was at the World Cup with Scotland this month.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the Light Blues can strike an agreement with the Italian side, who are keen on Nicolas Raskin, to land the midfield star.

Rangers are set to sign Premiership defensive midfielder

Ferguson, 26, only started 17 times in the Serie A for Bologna in the 2025/26 campaign and it will be interesting to see if he would be willing to make the move to Ibrox this summer.

Whilst the Scotland international could be an excellent addition to the squad, the Ibrox giants are reportedly on the verge of bringing in a player who is even better than him.

According to reports on X, Glasgow Rangers are closing in on the signing of Hearts central midfielder Cammy Devlin on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

The Australia international's contract at Tynecastle is due to expire next week and the Gers have seemingly moved to snap him up without having to pay a single penny as a transfer fee.

Devlin is said to have reached an agreement with the Premiership side on personal terms and will complete a move to Ibrox in the coming days.

Should this deal go through at the start of July, McInnes would have two of his former Hearts stars, Devlin and Shankland, as key players for the Light Blues next season.

Why Devlin would be better for Rangers than Ferguson

Ferguson is a Scotland international who has been playing in one of Europe's major leagues for several seasons, but he has also only started 27 league games in the past two years.

Devlin, meanwhile, has started 49 times in the Premiership in the past two seasons for Hearts, which suggests that he would be more reliable and durable for the Gers over the course of a campaign.

Their respective performances for Hearts and Bologna in the 2025/26 campaign also suggest that the Australian star has the potential to offer even more to McInnes' side in the middle of the park at Ibrox next term.

Devlin's exceptional defensive statistics suggest that he would be more effective as a ball-winner for the Light Blues than Ferguson, which is what McInnes should prioritise after the team failed to keep a clean sheet in the last eight games of last season.

Averaging almost five more tackles and interceptions per game suggests that the Australia international would cut out far more opposition attacks than the Scottish ace would, which is further backed up by their respective numbers of duels won per match.

Devlin, who also scored more goals at league level than Ferguson last term, has proven himself in the Premiership and as a star for McInnes as recently as last season.

Whereas, Ferguson has not played in the Premiership since the 2021/22 campaign and it remains to be seen how he will adapt to returning to the division after four years in Italy.

Rangers, therefore, could make an even better signing than Ferguson if this deal for Devlin goes through in the coming days, because of his exceptional performances for a Hearts team that came so close to winning the division last season.
