Amid a four-game losing streak, the Toronto Blue Jays have recalled fan-favorite Davis Schneider, who had a hot performance in July in the minors. Can his bat and presence in the clubhouse help spark the offense? 

Across 15 games in Triple-A Buffalo, the 27-year-old utility player has sported impressive numbers with a .298 batting average with five home runs, 13 RBI, 14 walks, a .469 on-base percentage and a 1.129 OPS. 

His strong numbers are deserving of a call-up, and the Blue Jays need a spark amid a 1-5 record since the All-Star break. This season, Blue Jays are 29-13 with Schneider in the lineup and 11-37 when he's not.

Schneider has been a solid defender in the outfield, and while he hasn't been as consistent offensively, his ability to draw walks makes him a threat and could help spark the offense. The Blue Jays rank last in all of MLB with 402 runs scored this season and have dropped to 6.5 games out of an AL wild-card spot. 

In addition to Schneider, the Blue Jays have also recalled left-handed pitcher Adam Macko, optioned Sean Keys to Triple-A and placed Patrick Corbin on the 15-day injury list with a left teres major strain. 

Schneider's recall comes at a perfect time as the Blue Jays start a series with the Boston Red Sox on Friday at Fenway Park. His presence is urgently needed as the Red Sox have been one of the hottest teams in baseball, posting a historic 15-game winning streak that was broken on Wednesday night with a 5-1 loss against the Baltimore Orioles. 

The Blue Jays have had several of their power-bats struggling including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Daulton Varsho. Vladdy has yet to hit a home run at Rogers Center and Varsho hasn't homered since June 23 and has struggled with a .217 batting average with runners-in-scoring position. 

While the Blue Jays are likely to be sellers at the Aug. 3 trade deadline, they are desperate to get something going with their lackluster offense. They will now hope Schneider's hot bat will carry over to the big leagues.
