Chris Bosh has shared new details about the serious health emergency he suffered in January, revealing that he experienced another pulmonary embolism and believes he came close to losing his life.

Speaking with HoopsHype, the Hall of Famer described the frightening incident, explaining that he collapsed in his bathroom and spent a week in the hospital.

“I almost dropped dead pretty much and came back to life. I’m not joking,” Bosh said.

The former NBA star admitted the episode served as a reminder that he must continue taking his medication and closely managing his health, even when he feels completely fine.

Blood clot issues forced Bosh into an early retirement from the NBA, and he acknowledged that the condition remains something he will have to monitor for the rest of his life.

Earlier this year, Bosh revealed he had been preparing for a night out when he suddenly felt numbness in his leg before losing consciousness. He later woke up injured, while his wife had already called emergency services.

Reflecting on the experience in February, Bosh wrote, “After coming back from the darkness, there was no euphoric clarity. No life montage flashing before my eyes. No voice in my ear telling me it’ll be ok and what to do next. Just the gratitude for still being alive, and a newfound, sobering awareness of how everything actually is.”

“What did change was an immediate outlook on life that was simpler and more honest.”

The former No. 4 overall pick spent his career with the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat before retiring because of recurring blood clot complications.
