Colby Covington has two RAF matches in mind that he thinks would garner significant interest.

Covington has rejuvenated himself thanks to his freestyle wrestling run post-MMA. “Chaos” recently scored a 10-0 sweep over former UFC welterweight titleholder Belal Muhammad. It was a perfect follow-up for Covington, who defeated Arman Tsarukyan with a 5-3 score back in July. Covington thinks a grudge match with Chimaev and a showdown with his old rival Kamaru Usman are two directions RAF should look into.

Speaking to media members following the aforementioned RAF 13 battle with Muhammad, Covington explained why the Chimaev and Usman matches intrigue him (via MMAJunkie).

“It’s a long list of guys, and thankfully RAF has so much good talent to challenge and test myself,” Covington said at the RAF 13 post-match press conference. “Of course, ‘Marty Fakenewsman’ (Kamaru Usman), we have unfinished business. That trilogy is a huge matchup. That’s probably at the top of the list. ‘Cumshot’ (Khamzat) Chimaev is up there, but you know, we have to get on a weight plan. He can’t keep being unprofessional and missing weight or retiring again to the common cold.”

Chimaev recently claimed to have accidently leaked RAF’s plan for the Covington bout. Whether or not it actually comes to fruition remains to be seen. Both men have traded verbal shots over the years, and the buildup to such a match figures to draw a chunk of the MMA fanbase. Whether or not fans have an appetite to see Covington and Usman go at it on the mats remains to be seen.

Usman scored two wins over Covington with both encounters being contested for the UFC welterweight title. “The Nigerian Nightmare” broke Covington’s jaw for the TKO finish in the first bout, and he took a unanimous decision in the rematch.
