UFC superstar Conor McGregor believes his short-lived return at UFC 329 should be moved to a no-contest after his leg injury.

Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the Octagon lasted mere seconds against Max Holloway last weekend at UFC 329.

Just seconds into Round 1, McGregor suffered a right leg injury after attempting a spinning wheel kick as the fight kicked off. It was a stunning and abrupt end to McGregor’s return to the cage for the first time since suffering a left leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

McGregor’s ongoing losing skid continued against Holloway at UFC 329. He hasn’t won a fight since knocking out Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

Despite numerous calls for McGregor to retire, the former two-division champion could be back in the cage by the end of 2027, as he’s teased in the days following UFC 329. But he believes the Holloway fight shouldn’t count as a loss tallied on his record.

In a recent Instagram post, McGregor posted an update on his health after UFC 329 while calling for his TKO loss to be overturned.

“A few notes. 1. I will have the results of the scan on my leg tomorrow. 2. The fight should be a no contest and all bets returned,” McGregor said.

Despite McGregor’s hopes, it’s highly unlikely that UFC 329 will be overturned to a no contest after his injury. As of this writing, the results of McGregor’s post-fight scans on his compromised leg haven’t been revealed.

If McGregor suffered a torn ACL or a meniscus, he’ll likely be out for at least a year before being cleared to resume a normal fight camp. He has one more fight left on his current contract before he’ll be eligible to explore free agency.
