Daniel Dubois has had a change behind the scenes ahead of his return to the ring.

After an initial reign as IBF titleholder from 2024 to 2025, Dubois became world heavyweight champion for the second time back in May when he stopped domestic rival Fabio Wardley at the Co-Op Live in Manchester to claim the WBO title.

‘DDD’ had to recover from two early knockdowns in the fight, before going on to dominate the action and earn the 11th round stoppage win, despite the bravery and heart that was shown from Wardley throughout the contest.

Wardley has activated his rematch clause with the duo set to meet again later this year, but there will be a change in the Dubois camp after boxing figure Sam Jones revealed on social media that he is no longer working with the WBO champion.

“I have decided to leave my position from Team Dubois. I wish Dan and the team nothing but the best going forward.”

Jones has worked with the likes of Jack Catterall and Joe Joyce, and had been a prominent part in the career of Dubois over the past 12 months, notably getting involved in a war of words with Wardley’s manager Michael Ofo during the press conferences between the pair.

It isn’t unusual for Dubois to make changes to his team ahead of a fight, having famously left trainer Don Charles to team up with Tony Sims in late 2025, only to reunite with Charles earlier this year ahead of the meeting with Wardley.
