Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell has agreed to a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension, according to ESPN. The new deal includes a player option for the 2030-31 season as well as a full trade kicker.

Mitchell became eligible to sign the extension on the first day allowed and chose to commit to Cleveland immediately rather than waiting until next summer.

By delaying negotiations for another year, he could have become eligible for a five-year contract worth roughly $80 million more.

Instead, the All-NBA guard opted to secure his long-term future with the Cavaliers after leading the franchise to the Eastern Conference Finals, reinforcing his commitment to the organization and the city of Cleveland.

The agreement marks Mitchell’s second contract extension since he was acquired by the Cavaliers in a blockbuster trade from the Utah Jazz in 2022.
