The third ODI between Zimbabwe Women and West Indies Women at Harare Sports Club has produced another memorable batting performance from Hayley Matthews. With the three-match series level at 1-1, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field first, hoping to restrict the visitors and seal the series.

However, Matthews once again led the West Indies batting effort with another impressive century. Her partnership with Shemaine Campbelle provided the foundation for a strong total, while a late cameo from Jannillea Glasgow helped the visitors finish on 271/5 after 50 overs.

West Indies lost Realeanna Grimmond early after she was dismissed for just 3 runs, but the setback did little to slow down Matthews and Campbelle. The pair took charge of the innings and completely dominated the Zimbabwean bowling attack during their 167-run partnership.

Matthews was particularly aggressive and brought up another century in the series. She scored 118 off 113 balls, smashing 18 fours and one six before eventually being dismissed. Campbelle played the supporting role superbly and stayed at the crease for 119 balls. She came agonisingly close to her own century but was eventually dismissed for 96, with 13 boundaries to her name.

Jannillea Glasgow’s late cameo takes West Indies to 271/5

Zimbabwe managed to regain some control during the middle and later stages of the innings. Beloved Biza and Nomvelo Sibanda both claimed two wickets, finishing with figures of 2/46 and 2/42 respectively. However, Jannillea provided West Indies with an important late boost.

She remained unbeaten on 26 off 21 balls, hitting one four and one six as the visitors reached 271/5 in their 50 overs. Zimbabwe therefore began their chase needing 272 runs to win the third ODI and seal the three-match series. Matthews’ latest century added to her remarkable run against Zimbabwe, following her record-breaking 182 in the opening ODI.
