Former UFC Double Champ Wants AI Replacing Judges in the UFC

A former UFC double champion wants AI judging in the UFC after watching the scorecards from the Natalia Silva vs. Wang Cong fight.

This past weekend at UFC 332, Silva dominated for most of the bout, held the advantage in both striking and wrestling, and earned a unanimous decision win to capture the women’s flyweight title.

However, despite the bout being a one-sided affair, two judges scored it 48-47, while the third had it 49-46.

Henry Cejudo wants AI judging, calls it the future and more reliable than real UFC judges

Henry Cejudo was not impressed with the judging and has opined that too many fighters have been robbed by inconsistent scorecards. “Triple C” thus believes AI could do a better job of judging fights. On Pound 4 Pound, Cejudo said:

“[Two] judges had it 48-47. I feel like one had it right. 49-46. But we gotta get AI to start doing this sh*t. This bunch of fu*king old people judging that are just been boxing… It’s ridiculous… I put my trust in AI before I put my trust in these fucking judges… You put a chip on the gloves, and then you see the precision of that; it’s actually hitting the body part.”

Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman believes AI cannot score fights. Instead, he thinks judges should be people with more experience who have competed inside the cage or octagon.

“How is AI supposed to score in this… How is AI gonna score? One guy throws 50 jabs and lands all 50 jabs, and the other guy throws one right hand and buzzes him. He is doing the chicken dance, but he doesn’t go down the whole time. Then the other guy throws another 25 jabs and then another 2 shots, doing the chicken dance. Who wins the fight according to AI?”
