The restricted free agency of Jalen Duren is expected to continue well into August as he and the Detroit Pistons remain in a stalemate.

"These talks between the Pistons and Jalen Duren, I'm told, will be going well into August potentially," said Shams Charania on NBA Today. "Both sides appear dug in with where they're at. The Pistons have a threshold for where they approach this contract with Jalen Duren. Jalen Duren and his reps obviously want more than that. These talks are very fluid."

Duren had a breakout season as the Pistons finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, but he struggled in the playoffs against the Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers and has contributed to the gap in his value with his incumbent franchise. Duren was a second-team All-NBA selection.

There are a dearth of teams with the requisite cap space to sign Duren to an offer sheet and the Pistons have maintained a high asking price on a sign-and-trade.
