After Gilas Pilipinas secured a two-game winning homestand against Jordan and Iran over the weekend during the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Window 4, Kai Sotto has gained traction with outstanding performances.

Philippines head coach Tim Cone told Kai Sotto that he would talk to the Miami Heat about a possible NBA opportunity.

Cone was caught on FIBA’s livestream telling Sotto he would speak with the Miami Heat before the post-game press conference started following the win over Iran on Sunday.

“I still think you need to get in the league. Find a way. I’ll talk to Miami. See what I can do? Would you be willing?”

The Gilas head coach has a connection with the Heat organization after serving as a member of the coaching staff for the NBA 2022 Summer League.

In addition, Cone is a long-time friend of Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra, who also has Filipino roots.

The 7-foot-3 center had two straight double-doubles of 18 points and 14 rebounds against Jordan, and 13 points and 16 rebounds against Iran.
