Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayLeBron James made his preseason debut with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, a 114-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. James had 10 points, four rebounds and a team-high five assists in 18 minutes.
"I mean, it felt a little different," said James. "Obviously, just wearing a new uniform, but the game is the game. ... And I was happy to be able to log some minutes with the guys that we've been going at each other in practice for the last two weeks."
Philadelphia is the fourth franchise of James' 24-year career and likely his last after he signed a two-year contract. The Sixers outscored Brooklyn by 10 points with him on the floor.
James attempted just one shot and made it. He scored the rest of his points at the free-throw line, going 8-for-8.
James' passing stood out from the opening minutes. James hit VJ Edgecombe with a three-quarter-court pass for a layup just over a minute into the game.
"He's a great, great passer; it was certainly on display tonight," said coach Nick Nurse. "There were a couple of long ones for layups, he threw some middle ones for layups and he threw some in the quarter court, guys cutting. ... It was good. I thought he really read the game well."
The Sixers' projected starting lineup of James, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and Edgecombe made its debut. The group outscored Brooklyn by two points in 10 first-half minutes.
Philadelphia closes the preseason with two games against the Boston Celtics, on the road Saturday and at home Oct. 16.
