Leeds United are now closing in on the signing of OGC Nice defender Melvin Bard, having had a proposal accepted by the French side.
Bard, who is represented by the same agent as Joe Rodon, is a left-back by trade, which is arguably an area in which Leeds are lacking, although James Justin is capable of playing in both full-back areas, featuring on the left in the Premier League so far this season.

However, the Nice defender could be a versatile option for Daniel Farke, as he is also capable of slotting in at centre-back, meaning he could push the likes of Muharemovic, Bijol, Rodon and Elvedi for a place in the starting XI.
That said, they could be difficult to displace, considering the Whites have made a very promising start to the season, winning two and drawing one of their three matches in all competitions, during which time they've only conceded one goal.
Nice star Ali Abdi is a big fan of his teammate too, saying near the end of the 2024-25 season: "Melvin has been excellent. He's a player who... (interrupts)... I think he deserves a chance with the French national team. He's a player who deserves it because he works hard."
The 25-year-old is now very experienced in Ligue 1, making 168 appearances in the competition across spells with Nice and Lyon, and he averaged 1.5 interceptions per 90 last season, which was the second-highest number in the squad.
Having proven himself in France over a number of years, the versatile defender could now be ready to test himself in England, where there is no shortage of clubs queuing up to secure his signature.
Leeds set to win race for Melvin Bard
Coventry City and West Ham United have been widely linked with moves for Bard in recent days, but Leeds are now close to securing his signature, having had an offer accepted.
That is according to a report from L'Equipe, which states a €1m loan proposal, including a €5m (£4m) option to buy, has been accepted by the Ligue 1 side, which means a deal is now very close competition.
West Ham also submitted an offer for the Frenchman, but it was always going to be difficult to keep with the Whites, considering Nuno's side were relegated to the Championship last season.
Journalist Mike McGrath has added Bard is travelling to England to complete his medical ahead of a move to Elland Road, which suggests a deal is now very close to completion.
