UFC veteran Marlon Vera has explained why he made the tough decision to leave Jason Parillo and start training with Raul Rosas Jr.’s team.
At UFC 331, Marlon Vera, also known as ‘Chito’, will go head to head with Charles Jourdain as he attempts to break a four-fight losing streak that extends all the way back to his title fight loss at the hands of Sean O’Malley.

While Marlon Vera is still viewed as a fan favorite by many, he’s never really been the same since losing to ‘Suga’. So, in an attempt to mix things up, he has opted to test the waters elsewhere with a new team, away from Jason Parillo.
In a recent interview, Marlon Vera went into more detail about what inspired him to make that move.
Marlon Vera explains his recent change
“After the Mexico fight, we went back to training, and I was trying to figure out what I needed, what’s not getting me to win these close decisions,” Vera said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.” “It was a hard decision because we didn’t have a problem or nothing bad happened. I was just (asking myself) what I could do moving forward to give myself a chance to kill this bad streak and get back into the winning column.
“I just told myself I don’t want my career to go to the very end and then question if I should have made a change, because sometimes making changes is hard. You don’t want to tell people you love or who have a big spot in your heart, ‘Hey, I’m going to move forward for now, and I’m going to see what I can do.’ So it was a hard decision.”
