Mike Perry has shared some words on social media in the wake of an injury that led to a first-round loss this past Saturday.

Perry was expected to meet Dillon Danis in the Duel Arena 1 headliner, but Danis was removed from the card due to an arm injury. “Platinum” had some choice words for Danis, believing it was always his plan to ditch the fight. Ultimately, the former UFC star and current BKFC standout took a short-notice MMA bout with Brandon Jenkins.

While Perry swarmed Jenkins early, he ended up suffering a dislocation. This allowed Jenkins to blitz Perry, dropping him and finishing the fight via TKO. It’s a big upset loss, although many wonder how things would’ve played out if the injury never occurred. Jenkins has taken credit for landing an elbow that caused the dislocation.

In a statement posted on his X page, Perry discussed the importance of looking after his health in the world of combat sports.

“Health is wealth,” Perry wrote. “The MMA lifestyle taking care of the body, mind and spirit. The gym helps the process of growing your strength, but strength is needed in other areas of life and should be exercised Everywhere we go. Organize, be consistent, more recovery and stretching. Taking knowledge into my future endeavors. More to work for, more work to do.”

It’s a disappointing follow-up for Perry, who was coming off a big TKO win over Stockton legend Nate Diaz on the MVP MMA 1 card. Jenkins also competed on that event, defeating Diaz’s close friend and training partner Chris Avila via split decision.

Jenkins has said he’s willing to give Perry a rematch at welterweight, but it appears his top choice would be a showdown with Diaz. We’ll see if Perry has a chance at revenge once he is fully healed.
