The Detroit Pistons have made it clear they plan to keep restricted free agent Jalen Duren and have no interest in helping another team acquire him.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported on The Hoop Collective that Detroit has discouraged teams from pursuing sign-and-trade scenarios involving the 22-year-old center.

“The one restricted free agency situation that remains unresolved is Jalen Duren, who the Pistons absolutely positively 100% intend to keep, and made it clear to anybody pursuing him in a sign-and-trade possibilities like, you’re wasting your time,” MacMahon said.

Duren is now the NBA’s final unsigned restricted free agent after Peyton Watson was sent from Denver to Cleveland in a sign-and-trade and the Clippers withdrew their qualifying offer for Bennedict Mathurin, allowing him to join New Orleans.

The main obstacle between Duren and Detroit remains money. After earning All-NBA honors in 2025-26, Duren became eligible for a contract starting at up to 30 percent of the salary cap.

Duren reportedly is not seeking the full maximum but wants a deal closer to 25 percent of the cap, which would begin at slightly more than $41 million.

Detroit’s current offer is reportedly closer to a $30 million starting salary.
