Tottenham Hotspur have been the undisputed winners of the summer transfer window so far. They've spent more than £200m to upgrade Roberto De Zerbi's side and may not be done there amid links to the likes of Ruben Vargas.
The Switzerland star has enjoyed a solid World Cup campaign and is set to square off against Lionel Messi's Argentina in the quarter-finals.
Whilst his full focus is on creating history with his country, the winger has already made his preference known ahead of a potential move this summer.

Tottenham plotting Ruben Vargas hijack
According to Orgullo Biri in Spain, as relayed by Sport Witness, Tottenham are plotting a hijack on West Ham to sign Vargas. The Hammers have already made contact over the Sevilla forward, but his Premier League preference has put Spurs and Brighton & Hove Albion in the driving seat.
The Premier League duo should now lead the race for the Swiss star amid his transfer preference. Whether their interest turns into an offer remains to be seen, however. Sevilla value the 28-year-old at just £13m this summer.
Tottenham should not prioritise Vargas move
As much as it will be tempting for Spurs to get one over on West Ham, Vargas is not someone that they should prioritise.
Before enjoying an impressive World Cup, the winger scored just three goals and assisted another six in Spain. It would be a classic mistake to sign a star from a summer tournament who has struggled domestically.

Instead of signing Vargas, Spurs would be better off keeping hold of Mathys Tel. The former PSG man outperformed the Swiss star per game last season and is far younger at just 21 years old.
