Sean Sharaf thinks Gable Steveson will learn from the massive upset KO at UFC 331

Sean Sharaf wasn’t shy bringing up past allegations before delivering a shocking KO against Gable Steveson, but he doesn’t think his foe’s career is doom and gloom from here on.

Sharaf and Steveson shared the Octagon this past Saturday on the UFC 331 main card. Their fight lasted a whopping 12 seconds, as Sharaf delivered a crushing left hook that put the Olympic gold medalist to sleep. It was a massive upset, and one that had fans thinking Sharaf would tee off in his post-fight interview and the presser.

Instead, Sharaf actually had a positive viewpoint on Steveson’s fighting future when speaking to reporters during the UFC 331 post-fight media scrum (h/t MMAJunkie).

“Yeah, I saw him leaving, but, you know, I remember I was thinking about this before the fight: I was 4-0, I was undefeated when I had my first loss in the UFC and he just had his first loss. It makes you better. You’re going to take a look back, and you can’t underestimate people. You can’t think you’re untouchable and you’re going to just run through people. I think he’s going to go back. He’s going to get better. He’s got a hell of a lot of talent, so I’m sure you guys will see him again.”

Sharaf’s back was against the wall going into Saturday’s bout inside Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. He was 0-2 under the UFC banner with finishing losses against Junior Tafa and Steven Asplund. Another defeat may have led to a pink slip, but instead, Sharaf is enjoying the biggest win of his pro MMA career.

As for Stevenson, it’s gut check time. This is the first time the highly touted freestyle wrestler has been knocked unconscious after going on a 4-0 run.

Do you think Gable Steveson can bounce back from the worst week of his fighting career, or do you think he will fade into obscurity? Leave a comment below.
