“Absolutely. I think that’s the best right there,” Fundora said in a ringside interview with Fighthype after Lester Martinez’s win over Luka Plantic, responding to a question about facing Ennis at light middleweight.

That answer gives Ennis a champion publicly welcoming the fight. Fundora did not question his credentials or suggest he needed to beat additional contenders before earning consideration. His stated priority after the mandatory is collecting more belts, and the Kelly–Ennis winner fits that ambition.

There are still two fights to get through. Fundora must handle his own defense, while Ennis needs to beat Kelly. Nothing in the interview indicates negotiations have started, so his interest has yet to produce an arrangement between the two sides.

Getting past Fundora’s reach would not necessarily put Ennis in control. The taller champion often gives up his height advantage to throw uppercuts and short hooks inside. Ennis would need to land, change position, and avoid staying directly in front of him after punching. Closing the distance makes Fundora’s chin accessible, but also puts Ennis in the range where his opponent likes to work.

Beating Ennis would also serve the larger ambition Fundora described elsewhere in the interview: becoming a major Las Vegas attraction. He cited Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather, and Oscar De La Hoya as fighters who conquered the city.

A unification against Ennis would give him a bigger stage to pursue that goal, although winning belts does not guarantee selling tickets. Delivering it would give Fundora something more substantial than comparisons with the stars who came before him.
