Barbados Tridents produced a strong all-round performance to defeat Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets in their Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 encounter. The Tridents’ bowlers kept the Warriors under pressure throughout their innings before their batters completed a comfortable chase.

Guyana struggled to build momentum after losing three wickets in the powerplay. Glenn Phillips top-scored with 24, but the Warriors were eventually bowled out for 99 in 18.1 overs, with Layne and Afghanistan’s AM Ghazanfar among the standout performers with the ball.

Johann Layne bowls Ronaldo Alimohamed with a beauty

The key moment came in the 13th over when Johann Layne dismissed Ronaldo Alimohamed with a superb delivery. The left-arm pacer angled the ball into the batter before it shaped away late, leaving Alimohamed squared up as he attempted to defend.

The ball beat the outside edge and crashed into the off stump, sending Alimohamed back for a golden duck. Layne immediately found himself on a hat-trick as the Warriors continued to struggle for runs.

Barbados complete comfortable chase against Guyana

Guyana’s innings suffered a major setback when Ghazanfar struck three times in his third over. He dismissed Mavendra Dindyal, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer in quick succession, leaving the Warriors 15/3. Phillips top-scored with 24 off 23 balls, but Guyana were bowled out for 99 in 18.1 overs. Layne finished with 3/14, while Ghazanfar also claimed 3/17 and George Linde picked up 2/13.

The Barbados bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals and never allowed the Warriors to build a substantial partnership. The Tridents then chased down the target, reaching 100/4 to win by six wickets. Brandon King anchored the innings with an unbeaten 44 off 42 balls, while Shadrack Descarte scored 32 off 20 to provide the attacking support. King and Descarte added 41 runs for the fourth wicket before King and Kevlon Anderson finished the chase for Barbados.
