Weekend Snapshot

Wyoming’s Great Divide Basin was the most unique part of the Tour Divide for me. The combination of arid desert, never-ending sagebrush, unrelenting winds, and 360 degrees of lightning storms made for a dystopian, albeit nice-smelling, journey through the Basin. Chad Ament took this picture at the halfway point around 8 p.m. as we raced to beat incoming rainstorms and avoid the peanut butter mud. Nature ultimately won, and there was plenty of scraping to do in the dark.

Faroe Islands

As a linguistics enthusiast who isn’t particularly fond of warm climates, I couldn’t miss the chance to visit the only Nordic country I hadn’t set foot in yet.

At the end of a long day on sandy roads, I approached my camping destination. I was about to set up the tent when my neighbors started blasting JBL speakers. I had to pack up because I knew there was another spot 15 minutes away. Once I arrived, a herd of horses greeted me in front of the field.
