Aston Villa are now well-placed to sign Anis Hadj Moussa, with the Feyenoord winger expected to leave the Eredivisie this summer.
A move may have to wait until after the 24-year-old returns from the World Cup though, with the winger currently out in North America representing Algeria, who snuck through Group J with a third-place finish, which set up a round of 32 clash with Switzerland.
Algeria are blessed with options on the right flank, with Riyad Mahrez bagging a brace in the dramatic 3-3 draw against Austria, which meant Moussa was unable to get off the bench.
However, he has been an important player at club level for quite some time, and was lauded for his performances in a Feyenoord shirt by scout Jacek Kulig back in November 2024.

Aston Villa's decision to loan Evann Guessand to Crystal Palace suggests they may need to sign an upgrade on the Ivorian this summer. The Eagles were unwilling to make the right-winger's loan stay permanent, which means his future remains up in the air. |

Moussa is set to be available for just €35m (£30m), which shouldn't break the bank for Villa, having secured a return to the Champions League next season. However, they will be hoping the widespread interest from elsewhere doesn't drive up the price. |

The Algeria international was Feyenoord's second-highest scorer in the Eredivisie last season, bagging 11 goals, and he averaged a whopping 2.7 successful dribbles per 90, 1.1 more than any other member of the squad, showcasing his willingness to drive at opposition defences. |

Guessand may be pushed out the door if the Feyenoord star arrives at Villa Park, but it could be difficult to displace John McGinn in the starting XI. The 31-year-old picked up ten goals and eight assists in 44 matches for Villa last season. |
Aston Villa well-placed to sign Anis Hadj Moussa
According to a report from Sky Sports, Aston Villa are now well-placed to sign the African winger, given that he is prioritising a move to the Premier League, despite interest from Al-Qadsiah and Al-Ahli.
In fact, the Villans are already deep in discussions to bring the France-born forward to Villa Park, and out of all the interested parties, their negotiations are the most advanced, alongside Newcastle United.
Moussa's arrival could see John McGinn move into central midfield
Although Moussa is capable of playing on the left, he featured as a right-winger in all 40 of his appearances for Feyenoord last season, which indicates he could give Unai Emery a selection dilemma.
Indeed, McGinn has made the right-wing position his own, but the Villa captain is also capable of playing through the middle or on the opposite flank, featuring on the left in two of Scotland's three World Cup group stage games.
It is a nice problem for Emery to have, with the Spaniard in need of depth ahead of a return to the Champions League next season, particularly considering a lot of his players will enter the campaign off the back of a World Cup, with no real rest.
Moussa has some Champions League experience, picking up three goals and one assist in 11 matches during the 2024-25 campaign, and he has amassed a total of 37 goal contributions in 83 Feyenoord outings, so a Premier League move is the next logical step.
