Baskonia is working to strengthen its frontcourt by pursuing veteran Ukrainian center Alex Len ahead of the 2026-27 season.

According to El Correo, the Spanish club has already opened talks with the 33-year-old big man, with negotiations reportedly moving in a positive direction.

Adding another center has become an important priority for head coach Paolo Galbiati. Kenneth Faried is currently the only natural center on Baskonia’s roster, leaving the team short on depth at the position.

Tadas Sedekerskis and Rodions Kurucs have the versatility to spend some time in the middle if necessary, but Baskonia would prefer not to rely on either forward as a regular option at center.

Len would provide the club with considerable experience. The 2.13-meter center was selected fifth overall in the 2013 NBA Draft after playing at Maryland and went on to appear in 704 NBA games across 12 seasons.

He returned to European basketball last winter by signing with Real Madrid. However, playing behind Walter Tavares and Usman Garuba limited his opportunities.

Len averaged 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in slightly more than nine minutes across 23 EuroLeague appearances.

His season was also affected by a late injury that kept him out of the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four in Athens.

A move to Baskonia could provide Len with a significantly larger role.

He would join a roster that includes Faried, Sedekerskis, Kurucs, Damion Baugh, Chris Duarte, Clement Frisch, Markus Howard, Stefan Joksimovic, A.J. Lawson, Kobi Simmons, Matteo Spagnolo and D.J. Stewart Jr.
