Darren Till managed to overcome the might of Yoel Romero at BKFC 94, and after it all went down in Manchester, he had some thoughts on how the contest played out.

Since leaving the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Darren Till has done a pretty good job of proving that he still has some gas left in the tank. He’s done some solid work in the boxing and bare-knuckle department, and while he may have left the promotion on a losing streak, he’s managed to improve his reputation nicely in recent years.

When he went up against Yoel Romero, Darren Till himself knew that there was always going to be an element of danger. Despite his advanced age compared to a lot of active fighters, he is still an absolute unit, and Till was able to manage that problem and deal with him fairly efficiently.

After the fight, Darren Till had the following to say about battling the Soldier of God.

“If I had got bored and listened to the crowd and lunged in, I’d have got caught and dropped and potentially knocked out,” Till said during the post-fight press conference. “So analyzing through the fight where you’re going through the motions and watching and you know what he’s waiting for and what he’s doing, I couldn’t lunge in. So I had to play the chess match … and it just became that over the five rounds, just trying to pop each other.”

“It was just one of them fights. Over 18 years you have them fights. He had a terrific fight in the UFC against Luke [Rockhold], then he had a f–king boring fight against [Israel] Adesanya … Well, I wouldn’t say boring because if you understand the mechanisms of it, it was a great chess match. So it is what it is sometimes.”

For Till, it’ll be interesting to see what he does next, especially if we finally get the chance to see him square off against Mike Perry almost a decade after the idea was first teased in the UFC.
