UFC legend Jorge Masvidal believes Sean Strickland has what it takes to overcome a tricky test against Nassourdine Imavov.

While no official announcement has been made just yet, the expectation is that Sean Strickland will defend his UFC middleweight championship against Nassourdine Imavov in his next fight. The two fought each other at light heavyweight in January 2023, and on that occasion, Strickland won via unanimous decision before beating Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title just two bouts later.

Sean Strickland has already cemented his legacy as a two-time champ in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but if he can successfully defend the strap, it will take him to a whole new level.

In a recent podcast, Jorge Masvidal became the latest fighter to weigh in and give his thoughts on a possible Sean Strickland vs Nassourdine Imavov rematch as we get closer and closer to a possible announcement.

“I’m excited about that fight,” Masvidal said.

“Great fight. I like Imavov. He’s a sniper. He’s real, real technical. You can tell with the way he’s fighting; he’s always like thinking a couple steps ahead.

“He’s like, ‘If the guy does this, I’m going to do that.’ And Sean’s just all energy [by] just coming forward with that pressure. I think this is going to be an amazing fight.”

“Imavov has a good style also to deal with the Strickland pressure, you know,” he explained.

Masvidal then added: “I’m gonna go Strickland, though.”
